I saw Gini last week for a casual bff date. I came by her and Brandon's house, the newlyweds! She said she had a little surprise for me. It's a wedding planner to log down different wedding things along the way. I was caught off guard and had to hold back the crying face. Not easy. Then Gini said it was okay to cry but I had to be tough and not scare Brandon who was diligently setting up their new T.V. stand. :) Gini even remembered our wedding colors when I told her in passing during her own wedding planning! How sweet. She thought of this and had it hand made by someone from Etsy.

This is when we got there. And by "there" I mean the Getty! The location of one of our first dates. STILL, not a clue what was about to go down on this hot, beautiful, Sunday afternoon.

Here's where I'm still clueless and taking a million pictures, and where Duane claims he was shaking and hoping I didn't notice!:

When he proposed we happened to be near a very cool couple and they grabbed my camera out of my hand, started taking pictures and gave us hugs after. They were L.A. locals and the girlfriend was shouting, "I've never seen this before! Honey-start taking pictures!!" It was hilarious!

He popped the question with my Grandma's right hand ring that I've wanted as my wedding ring since I can remember. It is getting sized and reset as we speak.

He dressed up for the occasion in his wolf shirt to bring him good luck. (Nhan)

Cornbread kept this a secret of the where and the when from my parents so no one would be able to give anything away. We were sweating in the heat and my hair was matted to my face all day! On the way there we didn't stop to have lunch to make sure we made it there before they closed. Now I know why Duane starved me. (Gini would understand how it feels to skip meals)

While we were on the little tram up the hill to get there he wanted to make sure I couldn't feel the ring box so he protected his pocket with his sunglasses case and his hand.

He said he was sooooo relieved after so here is his relieved face:

Duane and I watched a show last night about the lives of two people and how their skin was killing them (Duane wasn't too thrilled about watching it). But in the end I have to say how lucky I am to have an amazing family, a great group of close friends and a puppy that is still so excited to see me every day no matter what.

Summer with Sebastian

San Diego Great Dane Meet Up group. Sebastian actually went in the water all the way.
That's a first.

On Saturday my parents and I made a trip up to see my bro at the station. He was in charge of the rookies performing a passing "PAT" AKA "Physical Agility Test. We enjoyed a co-pilot, Sebastian, on the ride up.

We also enjoyed the occasional moments with Dad.

This test is NOT easy. I'm proud to say my brother had the best time of 7 minutes while the other suckers finished it around 9 minutes.

Sebastian officially weighs in at 92lbs. That's a small, full grown woman. I can't believe I used to hold him in ONE hand! Duane decided to weigh himself too, before the vet came in. Thank god nothing broke. I told him I'm not sure how many 160lb dogs get on the scale but he reassured me it would hold. Next time I'll have the vet take his temperature too.

Trina and Kimmie cruised over last weekend with their gigantic and gorgeous yellow lab, Tanner. He bounced on in my house and Sebastian was a little caught of guard but that didn't last long. They tired themselves out within a half hour. It was so fun to see my little guy play with another dog for the first time! I'm so glad it worked out. Trina took some badass pics.....

I just made a new folder titled "2010", YAY! A year that's even in numbers so it will be easier for me to remember when I write down the date on things.

I can't believe it's already the 3rd week of January!!! Speaking of January, it's Duane's bday on Monday and my lovely, loyal friends cruised out for a pre-birthday drink @ Nunu's. I love that place but I can't believe how busy it was!

Oh well I managed to have a few drinks and buy some for friends and only spent 23 bucks so you can't really beat that.

It was super last minute and I'm so happy the majority of people could make it on such late notice and bad timing. Everyone loves Friday nights (at least for those Mon-Fri workers) to relax! But I forced everyone to come out. :) Thank you guys. We had a blast!

I still feel slightly awkward writing on this thing as if people actually give a fuck but I'll write for my best friends who already know my life but want to know other stuff that maybe we don't have time to talk about or maybe got the chance to.

I've been on blog hiatus for a little bit. Things have been exciting lately and exhausting too, to say the least, so I haven't been up to it. But since the boys are watching sports I figured I have some time to sneak away and catch up.

The rest of September was spent working a lot and having little time to do much. I was enrolled in a Associate-To-Manager program that took a lot out of me. Frequent trips to Newport Beach and presentations got the best of me but at least while I'm stuck at a low paying job thanks to the economy, I can at least do what I can to make some more money at Macy's as a manager, soon.

October was amazing, I got a chance to see my loves in Seattle, with my best friends. That trip was unbelievable and I want to do it again soon. We will. I miss my baby girl Kenzi everyday and I'm sad I can't be around the Moores, more often. BOO.

November I got a chance to do some interviewing with Clinique which I tell you now is not an easy task. Cosmetics is a tough department to get into with the competition and politics so I was very happy I got the opportunity. I've been so busy there and can't wait to see what it has in store for me as far as movement.

My brother is in town now, has been for a week and it's awesome. He's helped out a lot here which we needed. I'm not a big brother myself so he can take care of a lot of stuff maybe I couldn't do, to include fixing the barbeque and making me work like a slave in the kitchen every night. :) I call him Sergent Slaughter now. :)

Last but not least I have acquired a new member of the family. He is the love of my life and if I had the time and the money I wouldn't hesitate for a second to find him a brother. He's softened the blow of having lost a best friend, Jerrylee. Although, we find that he's still with us as Sebastian frequently digs up his old chewing bones in the backyard. It brings a huge smile to our faces knowing there's still a big part of Jerrylee here. :)

My car pooped out....

I spent Labor day weekend trying desperately to find a new car. With the economy, I figured it would be in the bag in one day. Well, it turns out since I have not been in the market for a car, I had no idea where to begin. I knew my love affair with the Mini Cooper would never let up, but that's only one car. I'd have to do a little more homework than that to make sure I've made the right decision....

Scion- TC. Fun to drive. Pretty.

In the past two days I've test driven 8 cars. 8 CARS! I just wish work was a little closer and I could walk. I'm so over it. The money, the b.s., the b.s. and the b.s.. I have excellent credit, but a job that doesn't pay great. It's not an ideal combination. I'm worried that by the time I'm ready to make a deal, the financing won't go through.

I'm spent. Duane is spent but still manages to keep a smile on his face and tells me it will work out soon, and until then he will pick me up from work and take me on the weekends. He's so supportive.

I've narrowed it down to the Mini again. At first it seemed too small compared to my Beetle, which is surprisingly large once inside. But after test driving other small cars, the Mini stood out the most and didn't seem quite as teeny as it did in the beginning. It's really hard giving up my car. It has so much character and memories to compete but I have to. Cross your fingers for me that I will be able to land a sweet deal I can afford.

I love watching his interviews on Late Night and the Today show because he is in his own world and he's totally insane but that's why I think we'd be best friends. I'm going to have get on his set one day before I die. :) I still have that inner, passionate-film maker major in me, until I switched to Comm. Haha...

It was awesome, gruesome, clever and dreamy. :) Despite his ugly southern accent, Brad Pitt is still fun to watch.

We took the boat out for my brother's b-day celebration. After testing out the intertube which was fun but kinda tricky, we happened upon a Beetle's cover band playing near the Embarcadero. So we dropped anchor and listened all night over grilled salmon and zucchini.

It was so gorgeous outside and they were really good!

It was concluded by fireworks. So much fun.....

So we had a diamond show at Macy's last weekend. The company is called Iber Joya and their diamonds are so pretty! It's a family owned company so the dude in charge that day let us wear anything we wanted. Naturally I picked out the most expensive piece; $81,500 choker.

The day of the party was soooo busy!!!! I went to the store to pick up some last minute stuff, iced the cake and was off to MAC for my make-up. Of course it was 100 degrees outside so that didn't make it any easier. It's not fun to be rushed and sweating all over the place. Anyways, Torrey from MAC did a damn good job. I'm not used to wearing so much make-up, but what the hell.

But I'll cut to the chase and post all the cool ass pictures. Luckily the party was a complete and total success. The DJ was great and so down-to-earth. He and his wifey were an awesome team! I just want to pinch his cheeks!

People let their guard down and for the most part everyone dressed up! Kick asss!!!!!

After the Bacon wedding it was officially time to gear up for my birthday party. Thanks to my brother, I was pumped! He scheduled a DJ and photographer. He said we have to go all out because it's my 25th....

So I decided I HAD to make a wedding-cake birthday-cake. :) I mean if this party is going to be over the top, so must the cake! I've always wanted to make one. I went out and got all the supplies from Michael's and got work! Julia helped me with my practice cake. I didn't want to make it the day of and have a bunch of complications so we had to do a test run:

So here's the mini tier. It was a breeze for this layer.

Next was the middle and bottom layers:

It just was an uncanny resemblance of a butt hole. Sorry, BUTT it's true! HAHA. I'm so clever.

It's not fun unless it's inappropriate!

Finally the bottom layer: We cut the top to make it even.

We also couldn't wait for the cakes to cool to put on the icing. So in extreme anticipation and excitement we whipped up some icing and slapped it on! It was a runny mess but we got the idea!

I even had to make supports! This was mad-professional.

And last but not least was the fun part, decorating. I bought the shells from Ross. It was perfect timing because summer was here and everything tacky and nautical was in full force at discount stores. Lucky for me!

The weekend of the wedding me and "Cornbread" as my cousin and my cousin-in-law have adopted for Duane, were invited to stay the weekend at their wedding headquarters located in Temecula. It was so beautiful. It felt like a mini-vacation. It was awesome to get away even for just a couple of days.

The night before the wedding we prepared flowers. More like Aunt Deb did. She did an incredible job!

My 25th is coming up. I had hopes by this age I would be financially settled in a cool little full-time job with my own apartment somewhere in North Park. But with our dwindling economy and a rent-free guest house, what the hell? I have my whole life ahead of me to work. Don't get me wrong, I do work full-time but it's not my real job. Pulling all-nighters, getting on the Dean's list and being a part of an Honor's society all in the span of five years doesn't reflect my current job responsibilities. **SIGH**

So I was off on this legendary day o' drinking. It kind of sucks when you have the day off and no one to drink with. But later on it worked out because my retail-partner-in-crime, Jules, has a similar schedule as me so we decided to go grab a drinkie.

I did my best to research what the heck was going on in SD for this holiday o' fun and I couldn't really find anything. I figured the best default would be Old Town.

Dammmmn Giiina! Wall-to-wall people on the streets! Lines out my ass at all the restaurants! But somehow we managed to get right into Cafe Coyote. I was just there with the Gyni and it's pretty good.

Jules and I didn't end up getting there until past 9pm so we walked into this place with more than 90% of the crowd crunked already. Hence the title of this post.

So, Captain Dipshit decides to come over and hover over our table. He manages to spit out, "Happy Cinco De Mayo!" and leaves. About 20 minutes later he's back. This time he takes a sip out of Julia's margherita and I cannot believe it! WTF? This isn't a frat party yo'!!! ON TOP OF THAT, he says to me, "Hey, you know who you look like?" Immediately I know this is BAD. Most of the time people are smart enough to reference me to someone pretty cute, like Christie Brinkley:

But he goes on to say LINDA HOGAN!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please, go ahead and add to my already self-concious-ass getting ready to turn 25. Today I stared into the mirror for five minutes because I thought I saw a wrinkle!!

Well it turns out he thinks she's super hot and blah blah blah. I asked if he's into milf's and he said no, he just likes this Linda the Leather-face mom. Whatev's. I'm blonde, he's drunk. He did redeem himself and bought us a round of shots.

Also, to my surprise, he's in culinary school and works at a restaurant in La Jolla. Kick ass. I have to give him props because I LOVE food and anything on the Travel Channel that involves it.

So he left and then some Nascar looking dudes wanted to buy us more rounds. We had to refuse for obvious reasons. At least they didn't allude to either of us looking like leather-faced, washed-out Hollywood wives.

So I figured since it had been some time since D-man and I have gone out alone together, I propose going out on a "date." I'm not cheesy so when I say date I mean dinner and something legit after.

We had an awesome dinner at a Thai restaurant in Hillcrest. Even if you're typically a picky eater, chances are you would love what I had, or what Duane had for that matter.

I had their veggie entree with spicy noodles and tofu. OMG it was so good. Very flavorful. D had the same thing but with chicken because he's a murderer. Haha I'm kidding. I still murder fish. They just don't scream as loud.

Okay back on topic, after dinner was a "surprise" for me. We ended up going to the Ken Cinema which I totally guessed we would! "ANVIL" was there before me on the theater's display. I've never heard of the documentary but every time he's taken me to see a movie, I've loved it 10 times out of 10. I can say Duane and I rarely disagree on movies we like/don't like.

So the documentary was amazing and touching and I definitely teared up a few times. Basically it's the story of a band called Anvil who were on the brink of fame when Metallica, Guns & Roses and Bon Jovi were making a name for themselves. Here they are in 2009:

Somehow, (maybe because they're from Canada? That wasn't a diss.) they never made it big. The band members are now 50 years old (at least the drummer, left and vocals, center) and try their best on a daily basis to tap into the mainstream market and become successful. Blah blah blah it was really good.

As we exit the theater, guess who is in the lobby at the "merch" table? The freakin' drummer of ANVIL!!! The band showed up to play a gig at the theater!! WHAT? Best date ever maybe? Duane had no clue they were going to be there either.

Side note:
(Do you ever leave the house thinking, "Damn I love my outfit and my hair looks good," and then someone takes a picture of you and everything looks bad bad bad! I hate this picture.)

So this other picture is awful too but you get the idea. They played in the actual theater-theater.

Hells yea! It was a good night....
